Tucked
away in the beautiful and often forgotten county of Herefordshire
dwells an Aladdin's Cave of marvellous antique barometers and
clocks. This unique display is the largest to be found in the
U.K. Each item is guaranteed, having been expertly restored
in their own workshops by a very talented team of craftsmen.
Managing Director, Richard Cookson, has been involved in antiques
since his teens, opening his first shop in Stourbridge at the age
of 21. In 1974 Richard decided to specialize in barometers, and so
The Barometer Shop was founded.
At this most unusual emporium they repair and restore all types of
barometers and clocks and their friendly staff are more than happy
to spend as much time with people who just want to browse as they
would with someone wishing to buy one of the antique treasures.
A
further service was added last year when Trouble Shooter Sir
John Harvey-Jones "cut the ribbon" to open The Restoration
Shop, this is rather like a small museum but all the items are
for sale. Treasures as diverse as a two man operated Fire Engine
and a Wine Bottle Corking Machine mingle with vintage car parts.
Their boast is "WE CAN RESTORE (almost) ANYTHING"
